A chance conversation with a young war veteran helped me to appreciate the importance of Gardening Leave: a charity that uses horticultural therapy to support veterans in their transition to civilian life. 

The Lambeth based Garden Museum's next exhibition, 'Gardens and War' will open shortly after I finish my walk. The Museum has become a hub for the kind of forward-looking horticultural thinking that is changing society for the better. It needs to raise funds for its redevelopment and expansion.
