Story
I'm taking part in a 31 mile ultra marathon along the cliffs of Guernsey, starting at midnight tonight (18th November), hopefully finishing before the cut off at 7:30am on 19th November.
My father in law Chris Walder was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2014 and lost his battle in August this year.
As well as the physical and mental challenge this run presents for me, I want to raise awareness of the dangers of prostate cancer in men and the importance of getting yourselves checked out. Having experienced the loss and seen first hand the heartbreak that such an untimely death can cause I know that Chris would have wanted to get that message out there.
He retired to Cape Town with his wife Susan but sadly was not able to fulfil all the plans and dreams they had, or return to visit Guernsey as he became too unwell. I hope to complete this run in time to see the sun rise over his beloved Herm Island.
Anything you can donate towards this cause would be gratefully received. Thanks.
