Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On Saturday 16th July 2011 fourteen people are walking from Morrisons in Strood to The Oliver Fisher Special Care Unit in Medway Hospital (10k) to raise much needed money for this life saving unit.
As most of you know my Oliver was born with heart problems and had to stay on the unit for 5 weeks. Without this unit he wouldn't be here today so we would like to celebrate and give thanks to them for everything they have done for him and us. My friend Karla who is organising this fundraising walk has a son called Callan. He was born at 32 weeks, weighing only 3lbs 14ozs with Group B Streptococal Sepsis and has bilateral profound hearing loss. He stayed on the unit for 11 weeks.
Some of the other walkers have had babies born on the unit and others are friends and relatives - each of our lives have been touched by the fantastic work all the doctors, nurses and staff do.
We want to raise as much money as possible for this fabulous unit so they can continue to save the lives of sick and premature babies.
