We raise funds and awareness to help prevent suicide.

Story

In 2019 I was in awe as I watched the staff from Bassaleg comp run the Cardiff half to help raise money and awareness for the pupils they had lost due to various reasons and to help show their support to their friends and families.

When seeing this, I thought you know, what it’s time I put my big knickers on and pulled them up as high as they would go and have a go for my boys!

Over the past two years I was hoping my application had been forgotten or misplaced but scarily it turned up in my email a few weeks ago - I can honestly say it has blown my mind and is probably one of the  scariest things I have decided to do, I have even banned Charlotte from talking about it because it makes me feel physically sick!

So this is the reason I know I am meant to do this  - it’s for my boys - Matt and Tom who we lost to suicide in 2017 - Matt was 20 and Tom was 15.  It is my belief that my fear around mental health is just a fraction of what they and others who suffer with their mental health are going through..

We are lucky we live in the most amazing, beautiful and loving community whom have helped our family more than they will ever imagine - but we have also had a guardian   angel who has helped us, supported us and never forgotten us throughout all of this and her name is Nicola Abraham  from the Jacob Abraham Foundation.

This foundation offers support, training and counselling to those who have either lost a loved one due to suicide, or help people who are experiencing suicidal thoughts. They are amazing and need your donations to kindly help others, and work towards ensuring that no one else has to go through what we have as a family.

So… I’m doing the Cardiff half! You may see me jogging around the local area or walking  with a t- shirt with the boys on - this is to give me strength and the balls to have a go - so if you see me beep your horn and give me little wave to keep me going!!!
