Story
Louise's and Geoff’s Story
We first met at the Robes Winter Night Shelter in the church hall of St Matthew-at-the-Elephant in January 2007.
Louise was a volunteer on the evening shift until 9:30 pm, greeting the clients and sharing a meal with them. Geoff worked the night-shift, starting at 9:30pm. We each began respectively staying later and arriving earlier than we needed - and our relationship began !
We have been closely involved with Robes ever since. Louise is now a trustee of the charity. We both still work as volunteers at the Elephant and Castle shelter each winter.
December 2011 saw the first Robes sponsored Sleep-out in which we took part, helping in our small way towards raising over £60,000 in one night. Little did we know that the next year’s Sleep-out, 2012 (www.london-se1.co.uk/news/view/6329) would be on the eve of our wedding.
So, maybe a little crazily, this year the two of us will be spending the night of 30 November 2012 sleeping rough in the churchyard of Southwark Cathedral where a few hours later we shall become husband and wife. It is our fervent hope that you will be with us at our marriage on 1st December, supporting and celebrating our union.
A donation, however small or large, to the 2012 Robes Winter Night Shelter Sleep-out would be a wonderfully appropriate marking of the occasion of our marriage and our new life together. It would bring us much joy and would help Robes support and celebrate the people less fortunate than ourselves who find in Robes a strength enabling them to forge a new life for themselves.
Thank you so much.
Louise and Geoff.
