Story

In 2017 a group of members of the Lovells Bury Lodge (No 4018), together with several friends, were successful in completing a charitable fund-raising challenge. This was further to the first challenge, also completed with great success, in 2016. The original target was £4,018 but, as of March this year, over £4,500 has been raised - well done to all participants and supporters.

This fantastic amount be distributed as part of the Lodge's Centenary Celebrations in 2020, where every member will nominate their local charity (such as Keech Cottage or the NOAH Project) to receive a donation of £100.

Not resting on their laurels the members of Lovells Bury - again with several friends, are game to continue their fund-raising efforts for both local and national charitable and worthy causes.

If climbing up the 3 Peaks in Yorkshire in 2016, or undertaking the White Peak Walk in 2017, was not sufficient they thought it would be good idea to take on The Dark Peak Challenge (even the name is ominous) on Saturday 9 June 2018.

The ‘Dark Peak Challenge is a demanding high-level walk taking in Stanage Edge, Derwent Edge, Back Tor, Derwent Reservoir, Win Hill and Bamford. The challenge will cover a range of terrain walking over hill and glen, again, for a total of 21 miles. The total ascent is 1,006m (3,300ft) trekking between 9-12 hours.

Please support our continuing efforts by sponsoring the team. ANY
amount that you can sponsor would be gratefully received. All monies donated, through sponsorship will be paid, direct, into our Relief Chest within the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF). MCF will ultimately disburse approved donations to the nominated charities or causes.

Please support our efforts, every donation will make a difference.

Thank you.
