Story
Skydive
We will both be doing a tandem skydive on 11th August 2018 in Salisbury to raise money for Alive.
Alive is the UK’s leading charity enriching the
lives of older people in care and training their carers.
Alive works in over 350 care settings to:
• Engage older people creatively through meaningful activity sessions. Alive's activity sessions reach people on all levels: cognitively, physically, emotionally and creatively. Sessions include, music and poetry, quizzes, art and dance, guided reminiscence and energising activities. Notably, Access All Ages is Alive's new model of intergenerational activity sessions, using a variety of
art forms to build connections between younger and older people
• Train and support care staff to enhance older people’s wellbeing
and deliver outstanding care at every opportunity
• Reduce older people’s social isolation by connecting them to
their local communities
• Speak up for the rights of older people in care to those
with power to improve their lives
Lucy has worked alongside Alive whilst at university, as part of the Social Innovation Programme. This is an initiative for university students to address challenges in the local area through research, ideas generation and project development. It is delivered by Bristol Hub in partnership with the independent law firm, Burges Salmon.
Lucy and her partner Jack are jumping for Alive because of their
dedication to older people's well-being. They believe it is imperative
that we as a society strive to create a healthier, kinder and more mentally healthy world for everyone regardless of age.
So please donate to help lighten up later life.
