Story

The story so far…

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. This July I; along with a little help from the RAF Police Flight at RAF Marham, am raising money for the RAF Benevolent Fund! How are you going to do that I hear you ask….well….We are taking on the near impossible task of lifting 100 Lightning F-35 Aircraft (utilising free weights and resistance equipment) in a 12 hour period. That equates to a total weight of 2,242,600Kg or 186,883Kg per hour. Crazy I know! The reason we are taking on such a difficult challenge is to encourage you all to dig deep and give as much as you can to this wonderful charity.

When I was thinking of how to raise money I wanted to combine the RAF 100 celebration with the arrival of Lightning to RAF Marham (we half wish it was our 50th Birthday; might have been slightly easier). but here we are!

What is the RAF Benevolent fund?

The RAF Benevolent Fund provides financial, practical and emotional support to all members of the RAF family whether they are serving or former members as well as their partners and dependants. They help members of the RAF family deal with a wide range of issues: from childcare and relationship difficulties to injury and disability, and from financial hardship and debt to illness and bereavement.

What will your kind donations buy?

  • £30.00 - per week pays for care home top-up fees for an elderly veteran or widow, allowing them to remain in a care home of their choice.
  • £60.00 - pays for an electrically powered scooter for a veteran for a month.
  • £85.00 - buys a World War Two veteran new clothes and shoes.
  • £120.00 - pays for a months top-up so veterans can choose to live in a home close to family and friends and not move when their savings run out.
  • £200.00 - pays for Airplay youth activities for a year for a child living on a remote RAF Station.
  • £400.00 - a week pays for a veteran to stay at Princess Marina House for a respite break.
  • £1000.00 - will pay for a riser recliner chair or straight stair lift for an elderly/injured beneficiary.

Thank you all for reading my page. We couldn't do this without your support so please give generously. Your help will improve the lives of many within the RAF family.
