Story
About the Challenge 🏃🏽♂️
I am going to be hiking/running the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, a journey of 790km or 490miles, with a combined elevation gain equivalent to climbing Everest from sea level one and a half times, from Southwest France 🇫🇷 to Northwest Spain 🇪🇸. (For context the furthest I have run prior to this is a half marathon....so wish me luck! 🥵)
This is a trip my father, sister and I were planning on doing together in memory of my Abuelita prior to the sudden passing of my sister 10 years ago in a motorbike accident. Ever since, it has been something that for one reason or another we have not been able to do, however, I remain resolute in ensuring it gets done, which is why I have decided to do it on behalf of my family. 👨👩👧👦
The route takes an experienced hiker on average 30 days to complete, and I plan on finishing in 21 days and completing it on my 30th birthday (6 August) as a sort of gift to my family. 🎁
This means so much to me to be able to do this in honour of my sister and turn an anniversary that is a not a particularly nice reminder into something far more positive for myself and my loved ones. 🥰
Also, if you would like to join me for training runs, actual sections of the challenge itself or meet me at locations enroute please get in touch as I would absolutely love this! 🤩
Any support given - from top running tips to donations - is hugely appreciated! 🙏🏼
Much love
