Story
Giuseppe came to the Animal Home via an inspector as a 2 week old puppy who needed hand rearing, so he was fostered by a member of staff. Right from the start we had concerns about his development and his appearance, our vets confirmed our concerns and suspected he could possibly have hydrocephalus or other neurological problems which affected his balance, coordination and how his brain functions. He has managed with these issues reasonable well up to now but it has now become apparent after suffering from many eye infections since a month old and not responding well to treatment he was referred to an eye specialist at 9 months old. After the consultation with the eye specialist they have confirmed he has a condition called Distichiasis, this is a serious condition where he has extra eyelashes that grow and rub onto his eyes causing severe discomfort which left untreated could cause serious ulcers and permanent damage to the eye.
We are appealing to raise funds for an operation to surgically remove these extra eyelashes, by an eye specialist so Giuseppe can live a pain free life without life long medication.
If we happen to raise more money than needed it will be put into a fund for the next animal that needs emergency treatment.
Thank you for taking the time to read his story and for your kindness and generosity.
