I'm Brownie Leader for 1st Coppull Brownies and Girlguiding UK is supporting the Roy Castle Cancer Charity by encouraging its members (Guides, Brownies, Rainbows, Senior Section, Leaders and all) to support the charity by 'Swimming the Distance' this November. 

The options are to swim a mile to a marathon and I chose 5 miles. It's a long time since I swam regularly and even then I was doing it for a short time. 5 miles is 325 lengths of a 25 metre pool.... yes, I know, I'm insane!!! Swimming has helped me and I want it to help others. What better way than to jump (or swim) to this challenge.

I lost my Mother (Pamela Fitzgerald) to lung cancer when she was far too young and I know many people  who are devastated by this awful disease in one way or another.  

I'll get a Brownie Badge for it, but seriously, I will be thrilled if my friends and family and fellow Guiders could support me in this quest to support this amazing charity.
