Story
With 12 weeks and 2 days to go to Marathon day (April 23rd 2017) I was contacted by a friend to see if I would be interested in running the London Marathon for The Family Holiday Association, as part of Team Starfish. I jumped at the opportunity as I've always wanted to run just one marathon, but it had to be London. I duly paid my deposit and started my training that same day. I have to raise a minimum of £1500 (excluding gift aid) so any donation, not matter how big or small would be massively appreciated and I would like to thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
Having turned 50 a few months ago, I'm delighted to have this wonderful opportunity in a milestone year of my life. It is also 30 years this year since I moved to London!!
For over 40 years, the Family Holiday Association have provided breaks for UK families struggling with issues such as disability, severe and sudden illness, bereavement, mental health issues and domestic violence. They receive no government funding, so are wholly reliant on the generosity of donors, fundraisers and other supporters.
The majority of breaks provided involve short trips to the British seaside. They also enable families to go on day trips – such as a simple day out at the seaside or local tourist attraction or museum – and occasionally other types of break, such as group trips. They do not offer trips abroad.
