Update: Facebook asked me if I would like to raise money for a cause in replacement of birthday gifts this year. Since this birthday will mark 4 years since we said goodbye to our Mum, I thought it would be fitting. The Walton Centre Hospital wasn’t on the list, so I thought I would share this page again.  

The Walton Centre is a specialist neuroscience hospital treating over 100,000 patients a year with conditions including head and spinal trauma injuries; tumours of the nervous system; epilepsy; multiple sclerosis and motorneurone disease. 

The Charity helps support excellence in neuroscience by funding a variety of projects at the hospital which help improve patient care and services.  These include innovative equipment; research; as well as improved facilities for patients and families.  It also supports staff with enhanced training opportunities to ensure they remain at the centre of clinical and research developments.

I can tell you from experience,  the hospital, it’s staff and facilities are essential for anyone finding themselves in a situation requiring this type of expertise. Any contribution to the continued support of these services would be a gift to myself and anyone needing life saving or changing treatment and care.

It’s so difficult to find myself sat here typing these words. It’s so surreal and the pain I am and I know my family are feeling is unimaginable. You think your mum and dad last forever. You know one day that they will go but you never really believe it. They're someone who grows old, who you grow old with... gracefully of course.  They see you get married, fasten up your wedding dress and walk you down the aisle. They see your grandchildren grow up and great grandchildren if your lucky.  Christmas dinners... Birthdays...  

As many of you aware we lost our beautiful mum wife and nanna to an aneurysm this week. It’s not the type of thing you think will ever happen to you. This only happens on T.V casualty or Hollyoaks!  Not to real people, not to your mum. At 46 it’s no age. I feel like were going to wake up and it all been a bad dream. But its not and we’re all trying to come to terms that our mum wife and nanna is no longer with us. And it hurts, a lot.

We all honestly though that she would make it through. Mum survived her brain surgery they fixed the vein stopped the bleed. She was making good progress. But unfortunately on Sunday night it overcame her and on Tuesday morning we said our final goodbye.

We have found huge amounts of comfort in that she was an organ donor. We know her heart saved a young boys life how awesome is that! That boy will grow up, fall in love, have children who may become a top brain surgeon and find a cure for aneurysms, you just don't know. It makes my chest hurt with pride and love. Not only that her liver kidney and panaceas went to save others to. How amazing all this for one little lady! If you feel you want to do the same you can sign up here; www.organdonation.nhs.uk

The care she received in her short time The Walton Center was the best we could have ever hoped and asked for. The doctors and nurses were just so wonderful; it made everything a little bit easier. They treated her with dignity and respect. They did her hair, played her music they were just simply amazing. They had all the time in the world for us her family, every question answered no rushing. The doctors made us a cup of tea! I mean when does a doctor ever make a family member a cup of tea!

So, we would like to ask that when we celebrate our mum’s life on the 10th of November, instead of sending flowers please make a donation to the hospitals Home from Home appeal. No matter how big or small we will appreciate every single penny more than you know. They are raising funds to, with your help, to build a home from home for relatives who want to stay near to loved ones undergoing lifesaving treatment in their Liverpool hospital. It will include eight, ensuite bedrooms with a sitting area, laundry and kitchen, giving visitors the comforts of home to support them through traumatic times. This will be part of a new, three-storey building which will enable a major expansion of The Walton Center.

We would like to thank you all for your love and support. Every single hug, they’re amazing! Your kind words, cards and also the bag of make up I received off one of my dearest friends with a bunch of flowers this morning! Now let’s try and help others.
