I discovered ACE when I attended one of the Newmill Open Gardens days. ACE - Aid Conservation through Education is a small local charity supporting nine primary schools in an impoverished area of southwest Uganda. ACE has built 33 new classrooms and provided water storage tanks and latrines. Desks are provided through ACE to prevent children from having to sit on the floor. There is a personal contact, as if west Cornwall is twinned with southwest Uganda. Also very little money goes on expenses as ACE is run by unpaid volunteers.
