Hi all, next week I’ll be joining the Ashby family on my uncle Martin’s charity cycle ride for Cancer Care from Lands End to John O’ Groats. 

I was 8 years old when Martin was first diagnosed with cancer at the age of 30, he was a fit rugby player with a young family and throughout his long battle in 1985, the charity Cancer Care in Lancaster played a huge part in supporting him throughout his illness and recovery.  Years later he was diagnosed again with a different form of testicular cancer and again came through it.  Over the past 30 years Martin’s raised thousands of pounds for the charity and to tie in with his 60^th birthday in 2 weeks time he’s riding again from Lands End to John O’ Groats with the aim of raising £5000, taking the total raised for this amazing charity to £50,000.

I’m joining Martin on the ride from Ross-On-Wye to Morecambe, 2 days of pedalling for 190 miles and am aiming to contribute to Martin’s total by raising £200. The Cancer Care charity in Lancaster and Kendal relies on fund raising and private donations, I would really like to reach my target, and make sure that the charity continues to thrive in the local area.
