We run three community centres in London to help disadvantaged and vulnerable people

Story

On 23 April 2017, I will be taking on the London Marathon to raise money for The Dockland Settlements, a local charity in East London that supports families with child care and provides recreational facilities for the local community. To support the cause, I would like for you to share my page using #RunMarkyRun so we can spread the word and raise much needed cash for the Dockland Settlements.

The Dockland Settlements aims to provide support to local communities who live close to our centres. Our focus is on working in Newham, Southwark and Tower Hamlets and providing sporting, social, recreational and educational activities. We provide low cost playcare to help parents go back to work or remain in work and a variety of sports for people with disabilities as well as activities for elderly people to help tackle isolation or loneliness.

About the charity

The Dockland Settlements has been supporting vulnerable, lonely or disadvantaged people since 1894. Currently we run three community centres, two pre and after-school playcare services and a food bank. We support our local communities but our focus is on the most vulnerable & isolated.
