Story
On the 10 August I plan to take part in the Prudential
RideLondon 100 on Saturday August 10th 2014 to raise money for the Eikon
Charity.
I haven’t quite started training yet, but don’t let that concern you. I had a slight mishap and came of my bike. After a short visit to Kingston Hospital to put a plate on my broken collarbone and TLC for the cracked rib, I have been enjoying a period of recuperation. But training starts soon!
Ironically, Eikon Charity very kindly offered me a place to be part of their cycling team for this huge event on the very day of my accident. I am delighted to be able to represent them and hopefully raise much needed funds, and can think of no better motivator to get back on my bike and fit again.
Eikon is all about helping vulnerable young people. Increasing numbers of young people begin life in difficult or unhappy circumstances. They often have no one to turn to for support when they are most in need. Some are bullied. Many lack positive role models at home. In addition, there are thousands of young carers with responsibility for looking after a family member with a physical or mental illness or addiction.
Eikon's vision is to provide long-term support to these people to help them develop into happy, thriving and resilient young adults who make a positive contribution to society.
Please give what you can to help this wonderful charity. When I am struggling up Leith Hill with weary legs, your donations will push me on...
