Story

During the first two weeks of August Helen's husband Martin will be undertaking the not insignificant challenge of riding from Land's End in the far south west of the UK all the way to John O'Groats at the far north eastern tip, over the course of 13 days. This is universally known as LEJOG.

Martin has been cycling most of his life and this has long been an ambition of his.  Whilst he has ridden in many parts of Europe and undertaken some serious bike ride challenges this represents an altogether different challenge, not least sitting on a bicycle saddle for 13 days in a row and riding a total of 1617 kilometres (that's a tad over 1000 miles in old money) at an average of 124.4 kilometres (77.3 miles) per day.

He is not doing it alone and will be supported along the way but he still has to ride his bike, up hill (there are a lot of those) and down dale, come rain or shine and regardless of what wind may be blowing.

Martin has offered to ride the LEJOG to raise money for Dial West Cheshire, a charitable organisation based in Chester and West Cheshire which aims to improve the lives of disabled people by providing services including advice and information, a community café, Shopmobility, volunteering and an Access group.

Martin will be recording his rides every day and the gory details will be posted online via Strava.  In addition he hopes to post something on Facebook most days (time permitting) using the hashtag #LEJOG4Dial for anyone who wishes to follow his progress.  He is an avid photographer and it is likely that the trip will be well documented so those who wish to can see how it's all going. You can follow his progress on https://www.facebook.com/LEJOG4Dial.

Any contributions you may wish to make will be warmly welcomed and all donations will go toward the amazing job that Dial West Cheshire do in the community as Martin will be paying all his own expenses!
