I haven't taken part in an event to raise money for a charity for many years.  I've done zip wires and high ropes courses (which I found pretty challenging) but never abseiled.   I am trying to persuade myself that the height won't bother me but I suspect the step over the edge to start the descent will be pretty scary.  It's about time I gave myself a new challenge! 

I found out about PLANETS, which provides support to Southampton Hospital for research into Pancreas Liver And NeuroEndocrine Tumours and the purchase of vital equipment, through several friends who support the charity.  I live in Southampton, and have benefitted from the Hospital's care on various occasions.   (I gave birth to my daughter there after a long and difficult labour.)  It is too easy to take our hospitals for granted.  I want to give something back.
