Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Mathew's JustGiving page.
Mat was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour in 2011 and, having fought so incredibly bravely during the last 5 years against seemingly unbeatable odds, his battle with Cancer finally came to an end on the 20th February 2016. Mat underwent multiple surgery's, endured radiotherapy, chemotherapy and also suffered a stroke during his second operation which resulted in complete paralysis of his left hand side. Mat, however, being the 'man mountain' that he is, put up one hell of a fight and never let his conditions get the better of him. Not once did he moan or complain about his situation - he just kept on pushing forwards and planning for the future. THE most amazing, courageous and inspirational man ..... a true hero.
As you may know one of Mat's last wishes was to spend his remaining days in the comfort of his home surrounded by family. During this time the Martlets Nurses provided outstanding care and support which enabled us to fulfil this wish, without which we wouldn't have been able to manage.
The Martlets Hospice care for free although they do not form part of the NHS and rely heavily on charity donations. Some £9,000.00 must be raised per day in order to provide care for patients and their families.
If you are looking to 'help' in some way please consider making a donation to the Martlets so that they can continue to look after others just as they did with Mat.
