Story
In 2019 I am undertaking a huge personal challenge. I will be trekking the Sahara to raise funds for The Royal Berkshire Hospital Charity (Radiology Fund).
In the last two years I have transformed my diet and body and lost 8st4lbs - I want to make this change permanent. In March 2019 I turned 30 and what better way to celebrate than to push myself to be more physically active than ever before. Make no mistake, this is going to be HARD for me!! The distance is route dependent but we are looking at around 16k of trekking per day over a total distance of around 72 – 80 kilometers. While 10 miles of walking each day may not seem that impressive, combined with the terrain, heat and my questionable fitness levels it’s going to be tough!
During this weeklong trek I will be traveling with traditional Berbers and a camel caravan through the ever-changing landscape. Climbing to the top of the massive Chegaga Dunes I will pass through the Bougharn Dunes & Draa Valley on a journey from M'Hamid to Foum Zguid finishing the week in Ouarzazate.
The days will be hot and the trekking will be tough so please lend me your support!
As I push myself over the next 12 months to get my fitness up to scratch I want to raise money for a cause close to my heart.
