Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm doing this cycle ride from London to Paris for 3 main reasons:

• First, and most importantly, because my little sister has Myeloma and I want in some small way to raise money to help Myeloma UK. The disease is treatable, but currently there is no cure. The work of Myeloma UK is aimed at accelerating the discovery, development and access to new treatments. The charity does great work and they're really helping my sister, her 3 children, husband and the rest our family to cope with what's happening.
  
• Second, I hope it'll make the children (my own two little people that you can see in the picture and my sister's twin boys and little girl) and the rest of our family feel proud. There's plenty for them all to worry about at the moment and if me doing this helps them feel a tiny bit brighter for even a short period of time then that's a good thing. 
• The third reason is a little selfish. I like cycling, enjoy a bit of a challenge and this looks like a great event at a perfect time. It's the perfect time for a few reasons. When I'm sad or upset or frustrated about things I can be prone to making unhelpful personal choices. Training for this seems like a better thing to do than wallowing in anger, feeling frustration or despairingly attempting to fathom out the unfathomable. By doing it I'll be doing something constructive, taking care of myself and giving myself more health and energy to give to others. Coincidentally the ride finishes on my 46th birthday and cycling into Paris around the Arc de Triomphe to finish at the Eiffel Tower also seems like a memorable way to spend the day!
