If you know me, you'll likely be aware I'm a big fan of sitting down. Sometimes at work, sometimes in the pub, sometimes on the sofa at home. What I'm not necessarily a fan of - is running! It's like the opposite of sitting and therefore I'm not very good at it!
Nonetheless, with a little encouragement and accompaniment from my better half, Rachel - I've decided to put my efforts toward something positive and try and raise a few quid for a great charity.
No 5 young people provide free counselling and support to kids and young people who need somebody to reach out to. Mental health effects many of us in varying degrees and it's not nice to think that a youngster who is struggling may have nowhere to turn to.
So anyhow, I'm gonna try and survive this 10k at the end of July (could be a warm one). Apparently Richmond Park is home to an array of wildlife, so maybe chuck an extra quid in as danger money?
For some context, I've never ran in any organised event - this is my debut! I have done a bit of running, at time of writing - I can just about stumble round a 5k in about half an hour. I know it's not a huge achievement but we all have to start somewhere, right? Thanks for reading, thanks for supporting no5 - and thanks for giving me the accountability I need to drag myself round the track!
