The number of homeless on the streets of Manchester has doubled in 7 years and they desperately need our help. 

I came across the Booth Centre a few years ago and was in awe of their work. From their Manchester base, they offer all round support with everything from a warm meal to employment, housing, benefits advice, haircuts, drama, music, arts and crafts groups, gardening and cooking. 

I became enamoured with their holistic and all encompassing approach to lastingly helping people who have fallen on hard times. Not only do they assist with the practical things, they also run programmes to reignite old creative passions and help people to cultivate new ones, providing purpose, hope and the potential for a better future.

I've visited the Centre myself a few times and the buzz of warmth and positivity is immediate. The staff are incredible but they need your help to continue with the life changing work that the centre offers.

So, that leaves me with the small matter of this challenge. The Wainwright Coast To Coast walk in just 12 days. 194 miles over mountains, forests, fields and valleys from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood's Bay, North Yorkshire. I'll be going head to head with the varying altitudes, terrain and unpredictable British weather!

I will be walking this beautiful beast in 12 days starting on August 15th and finishing on August 27th.
