Story

What we are doing and how you can help
On Saturday 26 May, a McBrides team took part in #WalkingForJimmy with friends and family to help raise awareness of and funds for the fantastic For Jimmy charity.

We donned yellow t-shirts and walked the 21 bridges (22 miles) from Richmond to Tower Bridge and as we update this page have made £4,600 for the charity. We are extremely grateful to our clients, contacts, friends, family and colleagues who have helped to raise this phenomenal amount for our charity of the year.

Of course, there is still time to sponsor us if you just wanted to make sure we would do it!

Meanwhile, here's a short clip explaining For Jimmy's fantastic work and how your donations can make a big difference to them: https://vimeo.com/269338479.

Our fundraising doesn't end here. We'll be supporting For Jimmy with regular cake sales and Christmas jumper days, but will also be hosting a sponsored Pilates session, a World Cup sweepstake and a McBrides Race Night, which is sure to be a night of fun and fundraising for family and friends.

Why For Jimmy?
For Jimmy was nominated by our audit and accounts colleague, Jamie Clarke, who went to school with Jimmy Mizen.

This year marks ten years since Jimmy tragically died aged 16 years old in an unprovoked attack in South East London in May 2008. Since his death his parents Margaret and Barry, have worked tirelessly with young people, schools, businesses and communities to create social justice and safe spaces for young people to grow up in.

Aimed at understanding the root causes of anger, confrontation and violence, For Jimmy’s message of forgiveness, peace and hope is aimed at encouraging young people to be leaders of change in their community.

Margaret and Barry's presentation here at McBrides in February was moving and thought-provoking and made staff want to get involved in helping them to spread their positive message.

Thank you so much for your support in helping this brilliant charity. Your donations are making a big difference to the lives of our young people.

Thank you!
