MIKE'S MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN MARATHON MADNESS!!

I am going to attempt the WELSH THREE THOUSANDS CHALLENGE in May 2018 - aiming to summit all 15 peaks in Snowdonia which are over 3000ft (914m)... all in under 24 hours. Summits include Snowdon, famous Crib Coch, the spectacular Glyders and Tryfan, before heading off across the remote Carneddau range.

Total distance - 30 miles!   Total ascent - about 4000m!

I'm joining an event organised by "Climb South West" to maximize my chance of success, starting at 4am from Pen y Pass youth hostel, and hope to reach the last summit by 10pm before the final 5-6 miles of descent to the nearest road. It is certainly going to be the toughest mountain day out I have ever done, and will be a VERY long but hopefully excellent day.

I hope to take the opportunity to raise some funds for a local charity, and my employer Boots Opticians will DOUBLE THE AMOUNT RAISED. Chris who is joining the event too is involved with NIGHTSTOP DEVON and we would therefore like to support this good cause: they provide same-day emergency overnight accommodation for young and homeless people, between the ages of 16-25, in the homes of volunteer hosts who have been trained and vetted.

(note: Donations are to be directed towards Community Housing Aid to ensure the money is ring-fenced to be used within Devon).
