Story

Hello all!

We are BDMLR Marine Mammal Medics. For those who don’t know, BDMLR is British Divers Marine Life Rescue. We are a national non-profit organisation who support ill or injured seals, porpoises, dolphins and whales. You can see photos of our recent call outs on BDMLR Midlands Facebook page.

Within our work we train up new volunteer medics (people just like you) using life-sized replicas of seal pups, dolphins and pilot whales. These models are specially made to order and cost several hundreds of pounds each. Due to them being so expensive we only have a few and these are often relayed across the country for us to borrow for training.

To raise some funds for BDMLR to put towards some well needed equipment, we will be taking part in a wild winter swim challenge. This will involve monthly wild swims or cold plunges in open water through Autumn/Winter. BRRRRRR!!!

None of us are hardened cold water swimmers so this will be a HUGE (and chilly) challenge!

In recognition of our efforts we aim to raise enough money to enable purchase of more training/rescue equipment. Please donate using the button on this page. We are SO grateful for any donations no matter how teeny it may seem to you.

Thank you so much,

Nat, Sarah, Christina & Lucy  x
