Story
Mike Mendall has worked for Croydon Health Services NHS Trust for more than 30 years in the Gastroenterology department.
During this period much of his time has been spent working with people suffering from alcohol and drug abuse which have led to unstable lives on the streets or in temporary accommodation. They often have difficult back stories with a childhood spent in care or come from broken families.
Croydon has also been a centre for refugees fleeing war from around the world. They arrive with nothing and have poor language skills leading to unsettled lives and poor health.
The Rainbow Centre attached to Croydon University Hospital tries to repair this.
Myself and two other Gastroenterology colleagues Dr Ashok Iyer and Dr Zinu Philipose are riding to support the Centre. We are raising money to provide books, and toys, tables and chairs for children and clothes and shoes for all ages, and lice combs and thermometers.
