Adding 'Run a marathon' to my bucket list was always going to be risky with a mother like mine. So, no real surprise that on my eighteenth birthday morning, my new pair of Nikes came with flight tickets and an entry to the Dublin Marathon in the box!
It's fitting to be doing this now, because having just celebrated my eighteenth, my sister should be looking forward to celebrating her twenty-first. I won't be running alone - my mother is being dragged round the 26.2 mile course, no doubt bribed with a Guiness on every corner! We'll need all the encouragement you can throw at us, just to get home within the time limit (gulp)! #GoMilly
And why the 'odd' target amount? Simply because that figure would get my Just Giving fundraising to seventy-five-thousand ... not a bad way to celebrate reaching eighteen!
