Story

We're completing the Run Norwich 10k on August 6th to fundraise for the Norwich & Central Norfolk branch of Mind. Mind is a charity which provides advice and support to individuals experiencing mental health problems. Part of their work is about raising awareness and understanding, but another big part is about improving mental health services.

With one in four people experiencing a mental health problem every year improving services and support available is vital. Every single donation can make such a huge difference  - it not only benefits individuals directly affected, but also their friends and families.

An example of what Mind can do with the money you help us raise:

£10  - could help them campaign for better support services, talking therapy and crisis care for people whose mental health is in crisis

£20 – could pay for a counselling session for someone who is unable to afford it

£40 – could pay for a holistic complementary session for someone suffering with a mental health issue

£150 – would pay for someone to be trained as a Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) to support people in our community

Amber:

August 6th will mark three years since my kind and loving mother's suicide. I had no plans, other than to do what I normally do on this day (cry, eat ice cream and feel sorry for myself). But then I thought.... Hey. Instead of getting upset and promoting awareness of mental health why not DO something. Which is why this year on August 6th I'll be running a 10k with the beautiful & fantastic Molly to raise money for the Norwich & Norfolk branch of Mind (the mental health charity).

I hate running but my knee hates running even more!  I know most of my friends are students or newly working (read: poor) but I would be incredibly grateful for any donations you could make. 1) Mind is an amazing charity that does incredible things. They work to promote mental health awareness and vital crisis services for people in need. The work they do stops other people crying and eating ice cream at home. 2) Donations are hella motivational.

Molly:

After receiving a rather surprising message from Amber asking 'Do you think I could run a 10k?' I wasn't quite sure I'd read it right. But sure enough a conversation later I decided to join her in Run Norwich on 6th August. That day will mark three years since the wonderful Mandy's suicide. With one in four people experiencing a mental health problem, including those in our own families, we figured that we might as well try and do something positive to help other people in similar situations.

So there you have it, me and the kind and beautiful Amber will be running (or at least attempting to run) a 10k on the 6th August for Mind. I can't promise it will be a fast run or a brilliant time but I can say that we will be working super hard to train ready for what is sure to be an exhausting race. We would be so grateful for any donations, whatsoever, no matter how small, to help this amazing charity to carry on providing vital services to those in need.
