Story

UPDATE FOR OUR SPONSORS...

Thank you so much for your support! We achieved what we set out to do! The Mountain Madness team were troopers! It's a hard slog up that mountain! Unfortunately, George and William couldn't join us on the climb due to sensory difficulties, but were cheering us on nonetheless!

Thank fully, our team survived the 7 hour climb and decent and completed one of the roughest 'walks' I've ever been on!  😂

We climbed over 3065 feet, 28000 steps, ignored the rain, wind and cloud fog, praying for sunshine (which we got eventually) oh, and dodged a few crazier folk running up the mountain for fun too! What a day!

It's just a fabulous achievment for all those who took part and besides a few minor bumps and bruises, a dodgy toe and some serious aches, we've survived!! Thank goodness for willpower, determination and friendship and thanks again to everyone who's helped us reach our target amount. Much love, The Team x

George and William

These two little boys are determined not to let their Autism hold them back! They love to raise funds for charity and regularly rope in the parents (that'd be Tracey then!). This year we've convinced some of our fabulous friends to help us and together, we have formed a team 'Mountain Madness' to climb Snowdon in July! We hope you will help us raise money for such an amazing charity who supports families like ours every day, in negotiating the trickery of modern day life!

Henry and Dominic

There are things that Henry and Dominic find very difficult to do that other people find easy. So they thought that the best way they could raise money and awareness for autism would be to do something that everyone would find difficult - climb a mountain!

Autism aware

"Weird", "Naughty" "Strange" - Autistic spectrum children have these kind of terms thrown at them all the time - it's known as an "invisible disability". The reality is that these children experience the world differently to you and I - think differently -  are wired up in a different way.

And thank goodness for that difference! Mozart, Isaac Newton, Abraham Lincoln, Bill Gates and many others who are now recognised as having been on the spectrum are now called something else - Geniuses!

Autism aware UK offer practical help for children to negotiate the minefield of life but also help the rest of us to understand and adjust our thinking as to the value of the differences. The cure for cancer won't come from one of us that thinks the same as everyone else!
