The challenge - the North Coast 500
4 of us are cycling approx 500 miles around the coast of Scotland this September. We’re not going crazy - we’ve planned to do the ride in a week. But - still, it’s 500 miles - and there are hills - big hills! Challenges like this are fantastic opportunities to make money for charities close to our hearts. We’ve chosen the charity and now we need your help.
I’m worried about this challenge. A year of radiotherapy and chemotherapy to treat my brain tumour has really weakened my body. I’ve just had my last cycle of chemo and am feeling the cumulative affects of the other 5 - I get tired very easily and am still suffering from extreme nausea, making training really difficult. But it will get better - we will finish - and hopefully we can make some significant money for terminally ill children on the way.
We’ve chosen to raise money for a wonderful charity that supports young cancer patients with very limited time left. It’s about dignity and legacy and creating happy memories. I say it again - A wonderful charity.
Imagine this - 1 million people all pledging £1 each. I know - a million people, ‘yeah right’ - or £2 from half a million people - half a million people 'Yeah right!'. I know - but 5000 people all pledging £2 - that must be possible?
Can we unleash the power of social media?
Here’s some info about Josie’s Dragonfly Trust.
Josie’s Dragonfly Trust
Josie’s story
It was set up to support other children and young people with cancer, based on the family’s first hand experience of seeing Josie go through long term treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and watching Josie knowingly and bravely face her last weeks whilst trying to brighten the lives of other young cancer patients and create happy memories for her family to treasure.
Josie’s Dragonfly Trust supports young cancer patients with very limited time helping families and young couples create precious and lasting memories together. The charity provides Cash Gifts and organises Dragonfly Dreams for children and young people up to the age of 24 years old throughout the UK. Our new Footprint Fund helps those who are left behind create or do something special to ensure that their memory lives on.
Together we can help children and young people leave their footprint on the world.
Josie’s Dragonfly Trust makes a very real and positive difference to the lives of young cancer patients with limited time.
