Story
Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST) have made the impossible possible. It doesn't matter whether you are able bodied or not; wheelchair, Cerebral Palsy, whatever your disability may be, it doesn't matter because JST don't worry about those things. 'If there's a will there's a way' and they have found the way to make one of the most amazing things you can do in life (sail on a tall ship) possible! You might say.. but what about climbing the sails or getting around the decks? They have ways to do that for anyone and everyone who wants to do it! My sister has Cerebral Palsy so I know personally how amazing the opportunity is!
I will be a buddy for someone on Lord Nelson sailing from Glasgow to Belfast for 10 days. I have to fund raise €1,600 for my costs as a buddy helper. Any money raised over and above my costs will contribute towards all their costs. It is a charity funded organisation and they need your donations! There will be professional crew members on board helping us voyage crew throughout the trip.
We will be doing everything from climbing sails, fixing sails, sailing the ship to cleaning, peeling potatoes and cooking food. It brings us straight back to basics which our technology filled world is starting to forget. I will be spending ten days phone-free.. which I actually think will be amazing!
