Story
** Money raised does not pay for me to go but goes directly to support young people in developing countries, for whom every pound will really make a difference! So please give generously**
In February I will be volunteering for three months with Restless Development in Zambia through International Citizen Service (ICS). I will be staying with a host family, and paired with a Zambian volunteer from the community, who have specifically requested ICS' help. ICS also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development.
Restless Development's projects in Zambia focus on helping young people to understand their rights, and encouraging them to hold the government to account for the provision of adequate health services. Restless Development's work empowers young people to make safe choices regarding their sexual and reproductive health and rights, as well as their economic and social well-being. This helps to prevent the spread of STIs, and reduce the incidence of teenage pregnancy, and early marriage. If you know me you will know that I am very passionate about the rights of women and girls, so you can imagine how excited I am about this opportunity!
I need to raise £1500 for Restless Development. If you want to read more about Restless Development's work in Zambia, here is the link: http://restlessdevelopment.org/zambia-our-work
Elle and Olivia have been kind (or mad!) enough to join me in cycling from Oxford to London on November the 29th, to raise money for Restless Development. Please support us, if only to laugh at our struggles, which I promise to film so you can follow our journey afterwards!
Thanks for your support!
