We work with victims of sexual violence to give them back the life they had.

Story

I am walking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks on Saturday 24th September 2022 in order to raise money to purchase 2 wireless EMDR kits for the children's Sunflower's Team in RASA. We have 2 offices, one in Bootle, the other in the Wirral.

RASA is a fantastic charity which supports survivors of sexual violence. I work with children between the age of 6 to 17 and with caregivers of survivors as young as 1 year old.

A vast majority of our work is trauma focused, and EMDR is a fantastic mode of therapy for the treatment of trauma.

WHY?

An assessment of a target memory is identified, then it is rated on a scale between 0-10. 0 = no disturbance and 10 = full disturbance for the client. This level of disturbance is how much it impacts the client now when they recall a memory. This memory could have been years ago.

A client's level of disturbance is often high when assessed. EMDR can drastically reduce that level, often to zero from just one session of treatment. This intervention can be life changing for young people. Not only is it such an effective mode of therapy, it can accelerate trauma work, meaning the client then requires less sessions.

Why £1116.20 - To allow us to offer EMDR therapy at both locations, we require 2 wireless kits, £558.10 per kit (£463.69 plus import tax £94.41).

We are aiming to complete the 25 mile challenge within 12 hours 🤞 I would be really grateful if you would sponsor me to complete this walk and raise money for this wonderful charity. All proceeds go to RASA. Thank you so much for all your support in advance. Xxx 🙏
