We building resilient communities globally to support rural communities and women

Story

This summer, I am driving all the way from London to Yiwu in eastern China along the New Silk Road - with Charles Stevens. It's a journey of some 10,000 miles, through 15 countries, and it will take us approximately 10 weeks. You can follow our progress at www.thenewsilkroadproject.com. We have raised all the money to do the trip from sponsors - not least JEEP, who have given us an incredible car to complete the journey. But I would also like to use the trip as a reason to raise money for Barefoot College, a charity which trains villagers from all over the emerging world in solar power and clean water techniques. These people, nearly all of whom are grandmothers, then return to their villages with the tools to give their rural communities invaluable access to clean water and renewable power. If you want to know more, look at the TED talk by Barefoot’s founder - https://www.ted.com/talks/bunker_roy, but I worked at Barefoot's headquarters in Rajasthan two years ago, and I have seen the incredible difference it makes to lives.

All your donations (however big or small) will make such a huge difference to so many people.

Thank you,

Tom and Charles
