For over 20 years, my Dad has been taking part in a research programme at Newcastle University's Institute of Neuroscience. This research monitors memory loss on an annual basis and as my Dad's memory was as sharp as ever even at the grand old age of 87, he was invited to donate some brain and spinal chord samples to further aid research into finding cures for dementia and neurodegenerative disease. This was something important to my Dad so in lieu of flowers at his funeral, Joyce and the rest of the family would be very grateful for any donations (financial!) that anyone might like to give in his memory.
