We raise awareness of AIDS through cricket to strengthen communities and fight disease

Story

Many thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In October I am taking two weeks out of my annual holiday to coach cricket in Botswana on behalf of "Cricket Without Boundaries". You can read more about CWB on my site but their aims are threefold:

1. To develop cricket through coaching children and by teaching adults how to coach.

2. To link cricket to HIV/AIDS awareness and to incorporate important messages around the prevention of the disease into coaching sessions.

3. To bring together and empower local communities through cricket.

These are aims in which I believe completely and I am proud to be able to make a modest contribution to them.

You may not know that Botswana has one of the highest incidences of HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa, with currently nearly 25% of the population aged 15 to 49 suffering from the disease in some form.

We must take positive steps to reverse this trend and aim to eradicate the disease. Please support me as generously as you can.

(All money donated goes towards the coaching programmes in Botswana and the equipment needed for them, as I am funding all the costs of the flights, accommodation and living costs myself).

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. About the charity

Cricket Without Boundaries is dedicated to helping, educating and developing local communities around the world through the spread and growth of cricket. Crucially, CWB also uses cricket as a tool in the fight against AIDS. CWB’s training sessions have at their heart discussion about the disease in terms of prevention, treatment and equality of treatment for those with and without the disease.
