We plant macadamia nut tree nurseries to enable sustainable smallholder farming

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

If you've found your way here then you probably know me from Nutcellars, a family company that I started three years ago with my Dad, Andrew, and my brother, Tim. Our products use macadamia nuts that we source from a cooperative union of independent farmers in Malawi

In September I'm running the Big Half marathon to raise awareness about the Neno Macadamia Trust, which is a charity my grandfather started with the primary focus of supporting Malawi's developing macadamia nut growing industry. This is with the objective of the alleviation of poverty and the improvement of the conditions of life in socially and economically disadvantaged communities, in particular Neno and the adjacent districts.

In recent years my dad has chaired the NMT. His work on smallholder value chains - alongside the trust's development of a Carbon Damage Mitigation Certificate system and investment in macadamia tree nurseries - has helped develop the farming cooperatives to the strong position they are in today.

With a bright future ahead of the farmers and the trust, I want to make 2022 a year of spreading the good word about these Malawi Macadamia and how the farmers' trees and the support from our customers are changing the world together.
