In June 2022, I heard from a close friend of mine that he had found out he really wasn't very well, and had skin cancer amongst some other health concerns,. Despite this, his energy, positive mindset and courage has shone through in every conversation and interaction we had - and just as he told me at the start, he is going to do all he can to beat this and come back stronger! I also know that the support he gets from others encourages him to keep fighting harder, and keep the faith that soon, with the right treatment all will be moving in the right direction. I am overwhelmed and inspired by him each day — and extremely grateful to the many amazing health professionals who are supporting him and his family! None of this would be possible without the amazing research and ground breaking developments that come from charities like Melanoma. A massive shoutout and thank you to all the team in Middlesbrough hospital and The James Cook Cancer Institute! I am going to take on my first half marathon (as well as some other challenges) to stand with him and raise awareness for the amazing work done by so many people! If he can keep positive through all this, I’ll get myself round the brutal 13.1 mile course!
