Story
So at the end of 2019 I decided to set myself the changeling of running the Hackney Half Marathon on 17th May 2020. I made the decision not only to run this for myself, but also to support Mind in the City, Hackney and Walthamstow Forest, a local charity that offers free mental health services to those struggling with these issues in London while also doing great work in my community.
Training has been coming along nicely since the beginning of the year so wanted to share this page with everyone and give you a chance to donate to this great cause.
Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year (a statistic which only includes people who have been diagnosed). Further than this, in England, 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem, such as anxiety and depression, in any given week. We may live in a city with a population of 9 million people but sometimes in London experiencing problems such as depression and anxiety London can feel incredibly isolating and lonely to individuals!
The overall number of people with mental health problems has not changed significantly in recent years, and even with all the talking and information that now surrounds mental health hundreds of thousands of people are still struggling.
Mind believes that no-one should have to face mental health problems alone, and is there to offer support and advise, fight your corner and most of all listen!
If you could take a minute to support this amazing charity please give anything you can!
