I am taking part in a 1 day cycle ride this summer in aid of a very good cause. The Hope and Aid Direct charity makes a difference to the lives of people in the Balkans who continue to suffer as a result of conflict. Many fragile communities still live on the edge of despair with massive unemployment and an ever-increasing gap between those who have, and those who have nothing. The charity raises money in the UK and uses it to source and transport food, clothing, tools, educational and medical materials. Through two annual convoys volunteers deliver this humanitarian aid directly into the hands of refugees, displaced persons or those at risk.

On Saturday 22nd June, I'm going to be cycling about 66 miles, plus using 6 ferries, to complete a circuit from Lymington to the Isle of Wight, then to Portsmouth, Southampton and back to the start.
