Story
Hi, thanks for visiting my page.
In 2012 I completed the marathon running in memory of Rianna Wingett. Rianna was a year 7 student at the school I taught in at the time. She was slim, fit and just 11 years old when she collapsed and died after completing a cross-country run during her PE lesson in 2009. It was later found that she had an undiagnosed heart condition that if screened for, could have been treated.
I plan to take on the mammoth task of completing the London Marathon for the 2nd time in my life. I have literally just decided to do this (9 days before the marathon).
Please do not think that just because I have completed the marathon before it will easy for me. It will not, I deferred my place from last year due to injury. I have since torn my ACL in my right knee and have had to retire from football. I didn’t actually plan to take part in the marathon this year due to the severity of my injury but have decided to give it a go. I have only completed 2 training runs and haven’t exercised for 6 months. I have no idea if I am even capable of completing the marathon but hope that the thought of completing it for Rianna will see me through. I also have my fiancé and beautiful 14 month old baby who I want to make proud.
Any money you could spare towards this amazing cause would be brilliant. I am going to find this challenge so tough so could really do with your support.
Thanks for your support on this
Nikki
