I would really appreciate your help...On February 29th I’m going to jump out of a plane and in the next few weeks I need to raise at least £395 to make this possible and help raise funds for a new charity close to my heart...

The prospect of jumping out of a plane terrifies me but I know that this month, 8 years ago I faced a much scarier prospect, life without my daughter. 

This new charity has been established to help grieving parents through the very early stages of grief. From food parcels to nursery redecoration, Luna’s Fund aims to help those parents facing life without their baby following stillbirth or neonatal death. 

We were lucky, following the sudden and unexpected death of Carla Rose from an undiagnosed condition known as ‘CDH’ at 18 days old, we had a community of friends, loved ones and even strangers who came together to support Steve and myself. But for those parents unlucky enough to have never brought their baby home sometimes, sadly, the experience is quite different. 

Unable to show people their baby or facing people who find it awkward to talk about the death of a baby they never met, these parents will quite often say ‘well of course it’s worse for you because....’ 

But it’s not worse, everyone’s grief is unique and no less painful and every baby, no matter how young deserves to be acknowledged. 

So it’s for these parents that I’m doing it. For my cousin (who suffered a stillbirth over 10 years ago when the topic was completely taboo), for my countless friends who have suffered miscarriages and for, unfortunately, those parents that may face this terrifying prospect of losing a baby in the future. Let’s acknowledge their babies and help others through the numbingly painful early stages of grief.
