Hello everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to visit this page and by doing so we hope that we are able to raise awareness around Cranial Plagiocephaly and
brachycephaly and what it is.
Last month our little boy was diagnosed with a severe Cranial Plagiocephaly and mild brachycephaly. Plagiocephaly is a flattening of the head on one side that causes bulging and misalignment of the skull. Brachycephaly is the flattening of the back of the skull and shortness in length of the skull.
If untreated, as our little boy grows up, the severity of it would mean that it would be very visible in a child and an adult. It can also cause problems with his jaw, bite, teeth, ear placement, not to mention the possibility of it effecting his psychological well-being.
The course of treatment is to have special helmet made for Noah that will ensure his head grows in the right proportions to eliminate or reduce the severity of his flat head. Noah must wear the helmet for 23 hours a day, 7 days a week for the length of the treatment, which is estimated around 4 months, fingers crossed.
The NHS does not offer this treatment and the total cost is £2000. We have already started the treatment and have seen a huge difference in just 2 weeks and we are very proud of him already. Noah receives his treatment at A Head 4 Babies Clinic in London and is only one of two clinics that offer this treatment in London.
We are fundraising alongside the only UK charity for Cranial Plagiocephaly and Brachycephaly, Head Start 4 Babies and any extra money raised goes straight to this charity who also provide help and support to other families. We hope we can raise enough money for Noah's helmet and possibly along the way be able to help another little baby who may not have the love and support that Noah has from you all.
