Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
At the tender age of 48 (!) I am taking part in my first ever organised/competitive race at the Brooks Brighton 10k on Sunday 19th November 2017.
In April of this year we received the news that all families dread. Our (then 13 year old) son Archie had been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer affecting teenagers, Ewings Sarcoma.
One of the first charitable organisations who got in touch with our family was the Children with Cancer Fund (polegate), a small local Sussex Charity. They specialise in putting smiles back on the faces of child cancer sufferers and their families by arranging events and treats, among other things. Please visit their website for more information on the fantastic work they do http://www.childrenwithcancerfund.org.uk/.
Archie's big love is Army Cadets. When his new "Alt-berg" boots were personally delivered, courtesy of the Charity, this not only put a big smile on his face but also provided him with a goal to look forward to wearing these again when one day returning to his No.1 Brighton Cadet Troop. The picture on my page shows the happy day when the family received the kind gifts.
Around the Anniversary of Archie's diagnosis in April next year I will also be running the BM10k in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, who have provided amazing support through his treatment to date.
For now though I wanted to raise awareness of and funds for the Children with Cancer Fund (polegate), so they are able to continue to put smiles on the faces of other children and their families as they did ours. In the terribly tough times that cancer brings, these moments are priceless.
All donations, no matter the size, will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Noel
