Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On October 13th 2018, we will be tackling the obstacle course at Tough Mudder South London in Clapham.

After weeks of training and planning we have decided to use this challenge to raise funds for a local charity in Croydon, Rape Crisis South London.

The centre in Croydon is the hub for the national helpline, supporting women from ages 13+ who have experienced child sexual abuse, rape and assault in finding access to counselling and other support. As a charity they rely on donations to be able to support survivors of sexual violence.

The centre offers 1-2-1 counselling with a female counsellor for free for up to one year, which can then be followed by group counselling for 6 months. This women’s only centre is discretely based in the centre of Croydon and the address kept anonymous for the safety of the women who use the service; however women travel from all parts of South London to gain support in dealing with the impact of abuse, showing just how vital it is of a service.

Alongside the helpline and counselling, they offer support to women going through the court system by taking them through the process and offering grounding sessions through the counselling service, as well as attending court dates with women who may want that support.

This is just a few of the things RASASC do to support the community here in Croydon, South London.

What being a supporter of Rape Crisis South London means to a survivor:

  • £5 enable us to send out 20 Information packs to survivors, providing accurate and practical advice and information
  • £10  funds 10 helpline sessions providing emotional support to    survivors of rape and sexual abuse, and their friends and families.
  • £15  trains one extra helpline volunteer, enabling more workers to be on the helpline and therefore more survivor calls to be answered
  • £20 funds 5 counselling sessions at our exceptional counselling service or 5 appointments with our amazing advocacy team
