Just like physical health, we all have mental health. So, just like a physical illness, a mental health illness can affect any one of us. In fact, each year in the UK, one in four adults will experience a mental health illness.

With mental health being the most common cause of death for men aged 20-49 in England, it’s probably no surprise to know that in 2013, 615 million of us around the world suffered from Depression or Anxiety. It’s also troubling to know that 75% of mental health issues start before a child reaches their 18^th birthday.

The statistics surrounding mental health illness speak for themselves, however how do we raise awareness?
How do we support those who see no other way than to end their own life? How do we prevent a mental health crisis before it arises? How do we increase the
support available to those who need it, encouraging those very people to
overcome the stigma surrounding mental health, and gain to confidence to reach
out?

This is where fantastic charities such as Mind Wiltshire come in. Mind Wiltshire is a local and independent Mental Health Charity who provide services across the County. They are a voluntary organisation who work towards a better life for people experiencing a mental health illness. Here is a brief summary of their services:

- 1-1 Counselling Service

-Mental Health Awareness Training

-Stress/Anxiety & Mindfulness Sessions

-Telephone Service

-Charity Shop



 Callum is part of the fundraising team and would like to share a bit about his personal experience. “Having suffered my own mental health crisis in 2017, I can’t bear to imagine where I would be today if not for the support I had around me. Unfortunately, not everyone is confident enough to reach out for help and, more crucially, not everyone is aware of what support they have available to them, if any. In my eyes, there are three huge challenges I hope we can positively contribute towards; breaking the stigma surrounding mental health, getting the support to those who need it and working
to prevent mental health illnesses arising. There’s no doubt that this fund
raising challenge, and the services this money can support, will contribute to
all three of those challenges.
