Hello, my name is Ollie. I'm an eight year old German Shepherd Cross with the most handsome face and soulful eyes, as I'm sure you'll agree? :-) I came into the care of Oldies Club, a UK charity which rescues and rehomes older dogs, when my previous owner was unable to keep me.

I had a vet check-up after arriving in Oldies Club foster care and the charity was advised that I have had infected ears and skin problems for a long time :-(

Since then, I have had different Anti-Biotic treatments for some months in the hope of helping me. My foster family are taking great care of me for Oldies Club and have been giving me regular baths and applying different ear drops several times a day.

Unfortunately there is still infection deep seated in the ears and so, as the last option, I am going to have a Total ear canal ablation (TECA), which is the removal of the entire ear canal! This is expected to cost approximately £700 per ear.

The vets who have been working with my infected ears since I came into Oldies Club care, feel it is time to go ahead with the operation to close my ears up. I will have a separate operation for each ear, with the first one scheduled for this week and the other to follow after a 2-3 week gap, to allow me time to recover in between. 

The condition is thought to be caused by an underlying skin problem, which I will continue to have treatment for, on an ongoing basis. I am having a great time in my foster home and hopefully, once my ears are sorted out, I will be able to find a forever home of my very own. I am a lovely boy who is currently sharing a home with other dogs, cats and chickens and I am good with children too and should be fine to live with children aged 10+.
