One Direct have partnered up with Care after Combat to help veterans of war integrate back in to society.

Care after Combat was founded by Jim Davidson OBE, Simon Weston OBE and Goose Cryer MC in 2014 to support veterans who have difficulty making the transition to becoming civilians.

There are many military charities and they all have a vital part to play. No one charity does it all, it would be impossible.

Care after Combat has two main roles. The formation of a military alcohol and substance abuse fellowship and the reduction in numbers of re-offending veterans in the criminal justice system.

The vast majority of those who serve in the Armed Forces return to civilian life without problem and are less likely than their civilian counterparts to commit criminal offences.

However, a small minority have difficulties and find themselves in trouble with the law. Care after Combat, in an unprecedented Government approved scheme, works  behind the wire in the prisons with the veterans and plan for the time they will be released. We help them NOT to come back. We find them jobs and somewhere to live…  but best of all, we give them hope.

Footprints…named after a prayer, is our second and equally vital project.

We believe that PTSD is not the biggest problem the veteran can face. It is alcohol abuse.  We have a team of experts and recovering ex-military alcoholics. It is amazing what having a like-minded person who knows the pitfalls can make.
